When setting up your Tactacam DEFEND Camera, one major decision you will need to make is what data plan you will choose.

DEFEND cameras use cellular networks–just like your phone–to send images from the camera to your phone, and to allow remote operation of your camera. As with choosing a cellular data plan, you will want to envision how you will be using your DEFEND Camera in order to get the best plan.

The good news is that you do not need to see which carrier is better for your area, and which carrier offers the best deals. DEFEND’s built-in carrier detection features automatically hunt for the best signal and connect your cameras to it.

One of the main decisions you need to make is which plan you will want. This decision comes down to how many notifications you think you will get, and how much motion activation there will be. Cameras set in areas with lots of activity will be better off with an unlimited Pro data plan, which does not cap how many images you can receive. Meanwhile, cameras in areas expecting to see less activity should be just fine with the Starter package, which sends you 250 images per month.

Another consideration is how you want to pay for your plan–DEFEND offers the choice of monthly or annual billing.

Plus can also be added to your plan. Plus covers every camera on the account and allows you to download HD images and video, and request that on-demand photos are sent directly to your DEFEND app.
